There’s actually this one song I really like, 사랑에 빠져본 적 있나요 by Standing Egg, that’s just completely slaughtered by the one phrase “Have you ever fell in love, I do” what??. Even the last song I posted, Come Out, Let’s Walk, sounds a bit awkward cause of the Engrish. In the case of Love Shine by The Black Skirts, however, the English absolutely makes the song. The Black Skirts are very unique in their style. I would go as far as calling them a bit weird. Love Shine is one of their more “normal” songs, and while I don’t think their other songs are bad, this just fits my taste better. And the English lyrics are too sweet. The song is about a long distance couple that is being separated once again. Aspects of relationships have definitely changed over the last few years as long distance relationships became more common and widespread. I can personally relate to the struggles and hard work that’s required to sustain a relationship miles and miles apart. Trust becomes a given, and the smallest mishaps can very well turn into an irremediable crack. That being said, I think it makes the end when you’re finally together even more worth it. It’s the process of getting there that’s hard… Well it seems like I got carried away.
